Outreach Program
INTRODUCTION
How do you enjoy your American Quarter Horse?
Do you enjoy competing in local competitions such as:
♦ barrel racing ♦ team penning
♦ judged trail riding ♦ jumping ♦ open shows
If the answer is yes, the Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse Association would like to offer you another way to receive recognition for your accomplishments. Even with all the AQHA or RMQHA-approved activities offered, there is not always an approved or sponsored event in your hometown. But, your community probably offers plenty of competitions for horses and riders that fall outside of the “AQHA or RMQHA – approved show.”
In other words, earn merits and recognition for you and your horse doing what you already enjoy!
The RMQHA Outreach Program will accept most types of activities as long as the competition is sponsored by an organization or club that keeps official records on the performance of all horses entered in the event. But, remember this program is designed for events outside the approved show ring - you cannot earn Outreach Program merits at AQHA-approved shows or events. In order for the RMQHA to include your event or competition in our Outreach Program, the sponsoring organization must have an established governing body and a representative to sign the exhibitor’s report form.
To enroll, you must complete the enrollment form and return to RMQHA with a check or money order for $10 and your annual RMQHA membership fee if you are not already a member. The application fee covers the clerical costs associated with recording your enrollment and keeping records of your performance.
When you place at an event or competition, take your exhibitor report form and a copy of your horse’s registration papers to the secretary or manager. Ask the official to inspect your registration papers to verify your participation on a registered quarter horse. Ask the official to sign the report form, which tells how you finished in the event and how many horses were in each class. Then return the report, along with a $2 per horse per show processing fee to RMQHA within 20 days of the event. If you compete at an event, but do not have a good day or finish in placings where you cannot earn merits - you do not send in that show or event.
You will be awarded merits based on your placing and the number of horses you competed against using the same formula used by the RMQHA Open Show Division. Merits will not be awarded for events that take place before you enroll and become eligible to compete.
Rules and regulations, exhibitor report form and point system will be mailed out when enrollment form is received.

RMQHA CLINICS FOR 2009
The following trainers have agreed to offer clinics covering a variety of riding
disciplines. All clinics are open to the public and unless otherwise noted are free. This
year we will be limiting the number of entrants with horse to 10 to 15 depending on the
type of clinic and the facility size. First preference will be given to RMQHA
MEMBERS. If all slots are not filled nonmembers will be invited to attend on the basis
of who signed up for the clinic first. As in the past everyone is invited to audit the clinics
without a horse, but we would like you to advise us if you are coming so we can make
plans at the facility. If you are not an RMQHA member you can join at any RMQHA
event including the Denver Stock Show and the Colorado Horse Expo or by contacting
the RMQHA office. So sign-up and come join the fun while learning from some of the
top trainers in the nation. All clinics will begin at 9 AM unless otherwise noted.
